OUR STORY

MONALYTO was established in 1967 by my sister Maree with the purchase of our first Samoyed Aust Ch. WYNDALON ROYAL MYSTERE who joined us from the well respected Wyndalon Kennels. Royal was a son of the famous Eng & Aust Ch. Imperial Rebel of Kobe (imp UK) and the well known Aust Ch. Wyndalon Kara Lea. How lucky we were to obtain this wonderful dog who went on to wonderful success in the ring. Royal and his sister are still the only 2 Samoyeds from the same litter to have won the prestigious Gold Cup for Best Exhibit In Show at the Victorian Samoyed Club annual Championship Show.

Our next purchase was a bitch from the very well known and respected Kalina Kennels, KALINA IMPERIAL MUSETA, another Eng & Aust Ch. Imperial Rebel of Kobe (imp UK) daughter. Kim was a great asset in establishing the lines we wanted but was tragically killed at a very young age when some unknown person unlocked the gate and let her and her daughter out onto the road.

In later years we had another Kalina girl, AUST CH. KALINA SILVER REWARD a daughter of the well known Ch. Kalina Silver Blaze. She was the winner of Best Opposite Sex In Show at the SCV Championship Show in 1973. Minnie was very successful in the show ring and unfortunately was unable to have a litter.

Over the years we have not bred a large number of litters, as we breed mainly for ourselves, to keep our lines. We have used dogs at stud or purchased from other breeders we admired for their dedication to the breed to continue our efforts of breeding the correct type.

We were fortunate enough to obtain AUST CH. DONESK RAFFINA STAR from the highly regarded Donesk Kennels. One of her wins was Best Opposite Sex in Show at the SCV Open Parade and she was doing very well indeed when we decided to let her have a litter. Sadly Fina died giving birth to her 6 puppies. Her sister AUST CH. DONESK STAR EVE was then very kindly given to us by Olive Donnan of Donesk and we tried to pick up the pieces. Stacey was a joy to own and show and was a wonderful asset to our breeding plan.

We have had much success in the show ring over the years with our home bred Sams and many times won the S.C.V. most successful Samoyed for the year in various age groups, but more important to us is that our Samoyeds are part of the family and we enjoy the pleasure they bring us at home.

Our puppies are only sold to loving homes where they will be a part of the family and loved for their entire lives. We keep in contact with our puppy buyers and make sure that everything is going well. We offer lifetime help and support and if problems arise, we assist with re-homing if that becomes necessary, or they come back to us at Monalyto.

We reside outside of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia in a beautiful country setting among the Kangaroos, Kookaburras, Cockatoos and Possums. I am a mad collector of all things Samoyed and have filing cabinets full of information as well magazines and gazettes back to the 40's. My husband says this is the dog museum (I hope that doesn't mean he is an old fossil !).

Our Samoyeds are part of the family first and second is the showing. We just love the wonderful character of these amazing dogs. There is no better breed.
